AN elderly man died weeks after being involved in a road traffic collision, an inquest heard.
John Gordon Hurst, 90, was involved in a head-on collision six weeks before he was found dead on January 28 this year.
He was found unresponsive on the day he died at his home in Bournemouth Road, Chandler’s Ford, by his son John David Hurst.
Mr Hurst told the inquest that he attempted CPR, but his father was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Pathologist Adnan Al-Badri said that Mr Hurst had suffered a subdural haemotoma and a trauma to the head, but he could not be certain if it was caused by the collision.
He said that the injury could also have been caused by an undetected knock to the head.
Central Hampshire coroner Grahame Short recorded a verdict of accidental death.
He said: “John Gordon Hurst died due to a subdural haemotoma as a result of a sudden trauma to the head.”
