YOU are never too old to learn - that's is the message from a campaign this week aimed at encouraging people of all ages to learn new skills or gain qualifications.
Adult Learners’ Week aims to show how adult learning improves and enhances social cohesion, economic vitality and social mobility.
A number of colleges are hosting a series of events to highlight what is on offer this week and beyond.
Barton Peveril in Eastleigh has launched a new programme which includes more than 70 courses, from business and vocational training opportunities to academic qualifications and leisure classes as diverse as archaeology and tap dancing.
The Access to Higher Education Diploma course, which now has places available, is already generating high levels of interest from potential students.
An open evening is being staged on July 8 from 6pm to 8pm.
Southampton City College will also be showcasing what courses are open to adult learners.
The ‘omelette challenge’ and an HGV truck racing competition are just two of the many hands-on activities on offer to visitors at its open morning on June 21, from 9.30am to 1pm.
Expert teaching staff will be available to discuss the wealth of courses on offer and answer any questions prospective students may have.
Professional education and careers advisers will be on hand all morning to offer free careers advice and there will also be an opportunity to find out about flexible payment options and funding support.
