TWO pensioners were rushed to hospital tonight after a three-car pile-up.

One of the cars flipped on to its roof in the collision on the A3090 Straight Mile in Romsey at 4.15pm.

A blue Mazda 3TS, a Vauxhall Corsa and a blue Honda Jazz collided between Crampmoor Lane and Jermyns Lane.

Firefighters from Romsey fire station cut two elderly people from the overturned Jazz.

A man in his 80s suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital by ambulance with the female pensioner who was also hurt.

Crews freed another trapped occupant who required no hospital treatment and was checked at the roadside by paramedics.

The road was sealed off for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to land but it was not required.

The route reopened at 7pm after the wreckage was cleared.

Disrespectful people make me feel sick! All you people care about is leaving your childish pointless opinions on here. If you contained an inch of a brain cell in that heartless head of yours you would give your deepest sympathy to the family this has happened to! Yes mikey01 I'm Talking about you and anyone else who is thinking of leaving mindless comment. Next time use that thing inside your head which is called a brain and think yourself lucky this wasn't you or your family involved because I'm sure your views would be different then. To my friends family and the family members involved in this I'm thinking of you and praying for quick recovery.

I don't understand why people can not keep their pointless opinions to themselves when reading a touching story like this. I think the daily echo seriously need to sort out the way they tell stories like this in the future, its awful to see that they haven't clearly pointed out the correct facts, as well to see this was a SENIOR REPORTER...
