Surely not, fires do not happen in this day & age, that's why we don't need a fire service anymore??

See... there you go again. Mouthing off about something you obviously know nothing about.
Come up with some facts about why we don't need a fire service anymore. Put together some comparisons of funding and equipment now compared to 10, 15 or 20 years ago.
If you are simply working from sensationalist headlines of the Daily Rags then you are ill-informed, which is exactly what the FBU want you to be. If you are a rate and tax payer, then you should be seeking to obtain the best value for money that is possible. Unfortunately that only coincides with the employers ideas and not the employees.
In the meantime, and until you can provide some facts I would suggest you keep your comments to yourself.

Well I was under the impression this was an open forum, I didn't realise that there were rules on participation?

On the subject of facts about fire service calls, service infrastructure, lets throw that one back to you as you seem like you are in the know. How about you provide some substance to you're claims, or have you been obtaining the information from the press?

Looking forward to you're reply..
