FOUR decades on it is still sounding as good as ever.

Listeners and volunteers raised a glass to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Southampton Area Talking Echo.

More than 50 people gathered at the Holiday Inn hotel for a bash on behalf of the talking newspaper for blind and visually impaired people.

The charity is based in a recording studio in Tremona Road where it creates fortnightly news bulletins onto memory sticks posted free to its listeners.
