TIME is running out for nurses and midwifes in Southampton to join a flagship national training scheme.
The Frontline nursing and midwifery programme seeks to improve skills and patient care.
The free development opportunity is the biggest of its kind in the NHS and will support 5,000 nurseing staff.
It is delivered by the NHS Leadership Academy over a six-month period and consists of face-to-face workshops and online learning.
Rosemary Chable, associate director of nursing at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, has completed the scheme’s senior operational leaders programme.
The nurse of 30 years said: “I found it an invaluable and inspirational experience and have been able to use my learning to directly influence work within my own Trust.
“I advise all nurses and midwives to apply, give it their all and take advantage of all the opportunities provided.”
The academy’s deputy managing director Karen Lynas said: “Nobody makes more of a difference to how your health care feels than the frontline nurses and midwives.
“I hope that thousands of them will seize this opportunity which will make a real difference to patients, carers and our communities.”

New cohorts will open monthly once all the Southampton places have been allocated.
