MONEY is still pouring in for a Hampshire disability centre that was saved from closure.

With help from businesses, organisations and individuals, the Rainbow Centre in Fareham has raised £172,141 to help keep the charity running.

The centre launched a huge fundraising drive earlier this year after fears they would have to close due to lack of cash, but in just seven weeks they smashed their £150,000 target.

After touching the hearts of people across Hampshire, money is still pouring in to help secure their future for longer.

The latest to donate was director of the Lee-on-the-Solent-based Solent Mobility Centre, James Watts, 31, who took on the Milton Keynes marathon and raised £724.

Vital support The firm chose The Rainbow Centre as their charity of the year, fundraising to help them continue providing vital support to people with neurological disorders.

Now the staff and families of 55 children and 38 adults at the centre want a chance to meet other people who helped them with a Bubbles and Berries party.

The Rainbow Centre will be offering unlimited glasses of Prosecco and berries dipped into the chocolate fountain in the Bishop of Portsmouth's garden.

To carry on supporting children with cerebral palsy and adults with a stroke, MS and Parkinson's disease the charity has to raise £50,000 a month to keep going.

Sarah Guild from the Rainbow Centre said: “We are amazed and so grateful of the support from this community.

“The party is just a chance to all come together and meet as many people as possible who have been helping us to say thank you and continue to raise money.”

The event will include entertainment from First Impressions Saxophone Duo, a Hampshire harpist and a raffle.

The Bishop of Portsmouth will be opening his garden in Bishopsgrove to the public for the event on Friday from 7pm-9pm. Tickets cost £15 and can be bought at the party.

Then on Saturday they are hosting a free open day with music, refreshments and children’s activities between noon and 4pm to showcase some of the centre’s work.

The Mayors of Fareham and Gosport will be at the event at the Bradbury Centre in Palmerston Drive, Fareham.
