COMING just 24 hours after the 70th anniversary of D-Day, Chilworth Village Day had a 1940s theme.
Land Girls and members of the armed forces mingled with modern-day visitors to the event, which was held in and around St Denys Church and the community centre.
Live music came from The Rock-a-Fellas who played a selection of wartime favourites.
After the morning’s thunderstorm gave organisers a scare, the event went ahead under blue skies.
“It was a terrific atmosphere and a real village gathering,” said parish administrator, Sally Kerson. “Thanks go to all who made the event such a success.”
Test Valley Borough councillor Alison Finlay opened the fete, which made £1,746 for the upkeep of the church.
