A SERIES of images celebrating Southampton’s artistic contribution have gone up around the city’s emerging arts complex.

Work is continuing at pace on the £40m complex in Guildhall Square, which will open in 2016 and provide a host of new facilities.

Arts organisations from across the city have contributed to create images to go up on the hoardings at the city centre site.

They include artwork by Hampshire artist and fashion stylist Jennifer Anyan, the John Hansard Gallery and City Eye, who will both be part of the new complex.

Other contributors include the Nuffield, Art Asia and Turner Sims.

City Eye director Susan Beckett said: “It is fantastic to see both the quality and breadth of the arts complex’s future programme reflected through these beautiful images.

“They show the work of internationally-renowned artists and performers from Southampton and beyond, alongside projects which were focused around the local community.”

The arts complex, on the site of the former Tyrrell & Green department store, will feature two auditoria, an art gallery, media facilities, seven restaurants and 38 flats.
