British Transport Police has launched an appeal following a one man crime wave between Southampton, Eastleigh and Hedge End.

During the early hours of Thursday, 15 May, a man travelled between the three stations and was responsible for the theft of a cycle and a guitar and was also seen to damage a scooter.

Detective Sergeant Sarah White said: “This thief seems to be a one man crime wave responsible for at least three incidents and, probably, several more.

“The bike worth £150 and the guitar worth £5,000 were taken from onboard a train travelling between Eastleigh and Southampton whilst the scooter was damaged at Hedge End Railway Station.

“I think it is entirely likely that the same man will have committed other crimes in the area and am calling on anyone with information about the incidents, or who have been victims of similar crimes to come forward.”

Detectives have also managed to isolate a CCTV image of a man they believe has vital information about the incidents.

DS White added: “I am convinced the man in the CCTV image has information about the incidents and ask that anyone who recognises him – or has information about the incidents – gets in touch.”
