A man hunted after a vicious knife attack that has left a pensioner fighting for life has been captured in Southampton.
Police launched a nationwide hunt for Grahame Haldane after a 75-year-old man was found stabbed at a house in Feltham, west London, yesterday.
The pensioner is in a critical condition in hospital following what is believed to have been a domestic incident.
Mr Haldane was driving a red Seat Leon car which was spotted in the Hampshire countryside yesterday.
He was later arrested in a city carpark after a police officer on patrol spotted him in Herbert Walker Avenue.
But police warned the public not to approach the 47-year-old, who is thought to have mental health issues.
This morning police revealed that Mr Haldane had been arrested in Southampton.
