SCHOOLCHILDREN met two very important people while they were finding out about life at sea during the Second World War.

Year six pupils at St Faith’s CE Primary School in Winchester met the Prime Minister and the mayor of London as well as Second World War veterans while on a school trip to HMS Belfast in the capital.

David Cameron and Boris Johnson had been on board the ship to meet the veter-ans to mark 70 years since the D-Day landings in Normandy.

HMS Belfast, which is now a museum ship, was the largest cruiser in the Royal Navy during the war and took part in D-Day in 1944.
