BUDDING construction workers are hoping to snatch a place in the finals of a national competition.
Callum Gregory and Scott Wilkes, both trainees at Fareham College, have scooped awards in the regional round of the national construction competition SkillBuild 2014.
They were among 100 construction trainees that competed at Sussex Coast Hastings College in their chosen trade.
Skills on show included painting and decorating, floor tiling and bricklaying.
Seventeen-year-old Callum, from Southampton, came third place in the bricklaying, new entrant category while Scott, 25, came second place in the carpentry, new entrant category.
There are 14 regional heats in total with the top 10 competitors going through to the national final in Birmingham in November.
