ONE of Southampton’s historic buildings has been given a new lease of life.

The Grade II listed former Bond Store building near the Old Walls has been sold to Southampton business Advisalink, which intends to utilise the premises for office purposes.

The building is thought to date from the 1800s and was built as a bond store to be linked to the Southampton to Salisbury Canal, which was due to run from the head of Southampton Water to Salisbury connected via the Andover Canal.

However the canal was never completed and the Southampton end of the canal was covered over in 1851.

Primmer Olds acted as agents on the sale of the building on behalf of LPA Receivers.

New owner Resh Rhoad said: “Advisorlink specialise in reviews within the financial services sector.

“The expansion to the new office will allow us to create 25 new sales positions in the local area. It's such a lovely building and we aim to keep as many of the original features as we possibly can”.
