A PENSIONER believed to have been murdered has been named tonight as police continue their investigation.
He is John William Willdig, aged 70, of Nelson Road, Southampton.
Police were called to Morris Road just after 10.15pm on Monday following reports of a man collapsed in the street.
He was taken to Southampton General Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Part of Morris Road has been cordoned off and closed to allow for a forensic investigation.
Meanwhile four people have been arrested in connection with the probe.
Two men, aged 43 and 53, arrested in connection with the death have this evening been bailed. A 35-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman, also arrested in connection with the death, remain in police custody.
Police say they are now focussing their investigation on establishing the relationship between all those arrested and the deceased, and are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident at this time.
Anyone with information which could assist this investigation can call 101 and ask for the Hampshire Major Investigation Team in Southampton, quoting Operation Fabia.
Alternatively, information can be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
