RESIDENTS and visitors to St Mary’s Church in Fordingbridge will be taken back in time when the fictional village of Fordwick is unveiled on July 5-8.
Armed with hammers, nails and pots of paint, volunteers are transforming the church hall into a village scene from 1914 to mark the centenary of the First World War.
The village is to feature cottages and tea rooms, a sweet shop and railway station, plus a village church and pub.
The opening will take place at the church hall, with a display of vintage vehicles and stalls, country dancing and the Bridges Brass Training Band performing. A preview evening is on Friday, July 4, from 7.30pm-9.30pm.
Tickets cost £10 from Jane Calver on 01425 656189.
