AN award-winning Southampton journalist will swap the newsroom for the stage for a fundraising concert on July 3.
TV editor of the BBC’s South Today, Lee Desty will turn into a singer-songwriter for the concert at the Soul Cellar in West Marlands Road, Southampton.
Mr Desty used to work as a reporter for the Daily Echo in the 1980s, and now leads a team of 90 staff for BBC South Today.
He has had a passion for music ever since he was a teenager and performed with various groups and as a solo performer.
Yet it was the loss of his hearing that led to the decision for him to record his album of his own songs called On Roosevelt.
The proceeds will go to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and the South Hampshire Deaf Children’s Society.
It starts at 8pm and is free to attend. To donate visit Virginmoneygiving.com/LeeDesty.
