VULNERABLE elderly people in Hampshire can now make their homes more secure for free after a community safety scheme won local authority funding. County bosses have donated £5,000 of public money to the Blue Lamp Trust’s Bobby Scheme which provides free home security and safety hardware.
The money will provide security items such as door locks, chains, spyholes, bolts, window locks or glass alarms to about 500 residents, many of whom are referred by the police, fire service, and local authorities.
Over the last year, the Trust has carried out safety and security surveys at over 1,700 homes across Hampshire.
