SCHOOLCHILDREN have been getting creative to support the men and women who fought for their country.

A Hampshire school has been running an Art in the Park event to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The art department at St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School in Titchfield has been working with pupils all week to create a prayer garden.

Every child was asked to get involved by making a willow dome, bamboo den, bird feeder and charity flower.

The flowers have been made out of fabric and children were asked to hide some money inside and then plant the flower.

More than 250 flowers lined the garden and once they were all in the ground children took a moment to think of those who have served and are currently serving for their country.

All the money hidden inside each flower will be donated to Help for Heroes, which supports servicemen and women who have been injured in battle.

Art teacher Kathryn Adams said: “It’s a nice way to get the children interested while teaching them about what these people do.

“The garden is something that will be visually stunning for them all to see and once we have used the prayer garden the coins will be collected and donated – they could have put anything from 10p to £1 in them it’s just encouraging them to support others.”
