Jungle fever gripped one Hampshire village with lions and tigers on the loose.

But residents in Lockerley and East Dean didn’t bat an eyelid because the animals were all part of the community’s annual carnival parade which had the theme ‘All Creatures Great and Small’.

And revellers did it in style with eye-catching floats and walking exhibits in Saturday afternoon’s line-up.

The show included floats decorated with lions, tigers, monkeys, elephants, giraffes and other creatures that live in the jungle.

The winning float by Lockerley Brownies told the story of a zoo, and animals included crocodiles, leopards, giraffes and even bars to hold them in.

Carnival queen Katie Sheaf, her court ladies Steph Kerr and Katie Peckham along with flower girls Iris King and Tilly Cooper travelled the parade route in a 1927 Austin 12 Four owned and driven by Peter Cole.
