Daily Echo: Safety scheme for young drivers launched Safety scheme for young drivers launched

ALRESFORD Rotary’s Young Drivers’ Awareness scheme has been launched.

The safety initiative is supported by Drive B4 U Turn 17 and the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service who provided the “crash car”.

Rotary has previously trialled the scheme with Perins students at Barton Stacey’s off-road facility and on the school site.

Rotary and the driving school are offering the opportunity for young people to get experience in an off-road environment before they are of legal driving age and without the pressure of an impending DVLA test.

Those youngsters who attended will receive a special offer lesson from Drive B4 U Turn 17 as well as a further subsidy from Alresford Rotary towards costs.

Others who expressed an interest but were unable to attend will receive the same benefits at a later date.
