A SOUTHAMPTON man is due to appear in court today charged with terrorism offences.
The 36-year-old was charged with an offence under the Terrorism Act, following a joint investigation by Hampshire Constabulary and the South East Counter Terrorism Unit.
Mark Colborne, of Butts Road, Sholing, was charged last night with engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts contrary to section 5(1) of the Terrorism Act 2006 He was remanded in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court today.
The charge follows an arrest and search at an address in Butts Road on June 3 this year.
Police say that it is not part of a wider investigation and there is no threat to the local community.
