A REFURBISHMENT project for a Hampshire church is celebrating after two successful fundraisers.
The Littleton Church Room Appeal raised £1,789 towards its £130,000 target this month, with seven open gardens in Littleton, near Winchester, and a ladies tennis tournament held at Littleton Tennis Club.
The appeal hopes to refurbish the church room, just off Main Road, with new toilet facilities and an extension. So far £103,700 has been raised.
Carol Ward, appeal coordinator, said: “Both events went really well. There was a lot of support. We made about £1,300 on the open gardens, and £489 from the tennis.
“We had 19 players and three court winners, and we served over 150 cream teas.”
She added: “We are at building regulation stage now, and hopefully work will start in March next year.”
