A vintage birthday for Florence, 104

Florence, with care home owner Susan Hollingworth and Brian Bennett, of Cathedral Cars, Romsey, was taken for a birthday spin in a Rolls-Royce to mark her milestone.

It was a birthday wish come true for a Hampshire woman celebrating a milestone.

Florence Wright marked her 104th birthday with a tasty coconut cake shared with friends – and a ride in a vintage car.

Hoping to make it a day to remember, Susan Hollingworth – the owner of Elingfield House Residential Care Home in Totton – played fairy godmother for the day and granted Florence her two birthday wishes.

Susan managed to find an old Rolls-Royce with a Hampshire car company in which Florence was taken for a spin.

The great-grandmother-of-six has lived in the area for 99 years and carers said they could see her eyes sparkle as she was driven to familiar sights like Beaulieu and the swan lake at Buckler’s Hard.

Susan said: “Florence had such a wonderful time and the car was lovely.”
