POLICE are hunting thieves who have stolen a mobility scooter from a volunteer who depends on the vehicle for his charity work.
The scooter was taken from outside the British Heart Foundation store in Newport, on the Isle of Wight, where the victim volunteers, last Thursday.
It is a unique four-wheeled scooter, with electric blue panelling, a black seat cover and a modified ignition which uses a flick switch.
PC Matt Wilford said: “Both the victim and his wife use the scooter, and have had to obtain alternative help just to get around as a result of this theft.”
Anyone with information about the theft, which happened in Taylor Road, between 11am and noon, should call Newport police station on 101, or Crime-stoppers on 0800 555 111.
