DETECTIVES have named the man whose body was found lying on a pavement on the Isle of Wight.

Christopher William Parsons was discovered on the ground by emergency services late on Friday night and despite attempts to resuscitate him he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the discovery in Sandown, a 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has spent the weekend being questioned.

Yesterday, police confirmed that the man had been released without charge.

However, he was also questioned on suspicion of intent to supply heroin, for which he has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Mr Parsons, 44, lived in Arnolds Yard, Brading, Isle of Wight.

A post-mortem examination failed to find a cause of death.

Further toxicology tests will now be carried out, however police say that Mr Parsons does not appear to have suffered any visible injuries.
