TWO Hampshire MPs have picked up top travel and music freebies worth almost £5,000 as gifts in the past year, the Daily Echo can reveal.

Winchester MP Steve Brine, 40, landed two tickets and hospitality, worth £1,340, to last year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The festival hit the headlines last year as Rolling Stones headlined for the first time.

Also among the headliners on the famous Pyramid Stage in 2013 were Arctic Monkeys and Mumford and Sons.

The MP’s tickets were paid for by the Public Right Society (PRS) for Music which fights to ensure musicians get the royalties they are entitled to.

The group also paid £400 for dinner and two concert tickets for a performance at the O2 arena for the Conservative MP.

Former Works and Pensions minister and Fareham MP Mark Hoban, 50, had a £2,500 one-week long fact-finding trip to Israel and the West Bank with his wife.

The bill for his trip during November last year was paid by Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI), a campaign group founded to support Israel and promote Conservativism.

Six months later, in April this year, the Conservative politician was off on another fact-finding mission, this time to Kenya at a cost of £690 with the bill collected by the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD).

Neither politician responded when contacted by the Daily Echo but both mentioned the gifts on the Register of Interests in accordance with the regulations.

Fellow Conservative MPs Caroline Dineage, from Gosport, Julian Lewis, from New Forest East, Caroline Nokes, from Romsey and Southampton North, George Hollingbery, from Meon Valley, and Desmond Swayne, from New Forest West have not lodged details of any gifts.

No presents have been claimed by Labour MPs John Denham and Alan Whitehead, of Southampton Itchen and Southampton Test respectively, or Eastleigh Liberal Democrat Mike Thornton.
