THOUSANDS of revellers have today turned Southampton Common into the biggest 1980s party the city has ever seen.

Party goers basked in the sunshine, having been transported back 30 years for just one day.

Daily Echo:

And it's not just the sunshine that got everyone smiling, the atmosphere was laid back and fun and it's clear people were there to enjoy themselves.

Leg warmers, rara skirts and Frankie Says Relax t-shirts were the fashion must haves, while there was also an abundance of neon Lycra - and that's just the men!

Daily Echo:

Gates opened to the festival, the first time it's ever been held in the city, at 11am before Brother Beyond opened the show just before 12pm.

Daily Echo:

The huge stage was then graced by Altered Images, Jaki Graham and Then Jerico.

Daily Echo:

The Real Thing, above, arrived and really got the party started and the dancing got underway.

Comperes for the day were Pat Sharp and Dave Benson Philips.

They kept the huge crowd entertained between acts, prompting singalongs to the likes of Rick Astley which went down a storm.

Even just a few hours into the event people were demanding it returns next year, praising those behind it for brilliant organisation getting in to the site.

Daily Echo:

Go West, Heaven 17, ABC, Howard Jones, and Banarama were also on the line up.

Finally, Billy Ocean was due to take the stage as the sun went down to end a momentous trip down memory lane.
