IT was like the whole world had converged in one place for the ultimate celebration.
The heart of Southampton was transformed into a sea of colour for an extravaganza fusing dance, music and culture from around the globe.
Thousands flocked to Hoglands Park as the Southampton Mela Festival as the city's largest free family event returned to its 12th year.
Revellers crowded to the main stages for performances representing traditional styles ranging from Indian classical, Qawwali, Bollywood, Bhangara, flamenco and folk.
The bustling food-court offered a scintillating taste of dishes and drinks ranging from all corners of the world with chefs serving up tasty dishes alfresco ranging from Indian samosas to Spanish tapas.
Shoppers browsed numerous stalls offering handmade jewellery, clothing, arts crafts and face-painting.Meanwhile kids let off steam in a sports zone with a sports zone featuring martial arts, aerobics and inflatable football pitch.
The event was organised by Art Asia focusing South Asian cultures with Chinese, African, South American and European.
Local groups and organisations supporting the event included the Hampshire COnstabularly, Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and St Patrick's Church.
