Commuters to be hit by five months of roadworks on Romsey Road

First published in News

WINCHESTER commuters are set to be disrupted for more than five months on one of the busiest routes into the city.

Roadworks are due to start today to create sufficient access for large vehicles for the new Pitt Manor development at Romsey Road.

The works are due to last some 22 weeks affecting commuters accessing the Badger Farm roundabout, via the A3090 from Hursley and Badger Farm Road, and parents travelling to and from St Peter's Roman Catholic School.

Extra hour added onto my 30 minute return journey today, and the first I heard of it was a roadsign last week. And that's in the middle of Summer, during school holiday time. It is going to be carnage come term time. What alternative route would they like us to use? Bring centre of town to standstill? Or perhaps helicopter?
