A HAMPSHIRE school is celebrating the official opening of its new £1.2m teaching block.

Perins School, in Alresford, opened the new building on Wednesday, July 16, at a special ceremony including tours of the eight classrooms.

It will be used as a maths block, relieving pressure on existing classes and enabling the school to accept a small number of extra Year 7 students from September.

The build was funded by the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund after it was approved by the Education Funding Agency.

It was named ‘Turing’ after the mathematician and Second World War code-breaker Alan Turing, and features the latest technology in energy efficiency.
