A coroner has recorded an open verdict in the death of a retired boat builder because of a lack of evidence of asbestos exposure.
Michael Rumney, 82, from Kingsway, Chandler’s Ford, died on August 29 in the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
A post-mortem examin-ation found mesothelioma, which is often caused by exposure to asbestos.
But an inquest in Southampton heard how there was little supporting evidence of him coming into contact with it.
