Police have issued a CCTV picture in the hunt for the man behind a £10,000 burglary on a Hampshire home.

It happened when thieves broke into a house in Edwards Grove, Portchester, through an unsecure window when the occupants were out.

The intruders made off with jewellery, bank cards, boxed aftershave, a £1,000 digital camcorder and an antique silver cutlery set - thought to be worth £10,000.

One of the men is described as:

  • White -
  • Aged in his early 20s
  • Cropped, dark hair -
  • Wearing a white T-shirt with multi-coloured logo grey/dark coloured bottoms and white trainers.

DC Harrison said: “We are keen to identify this male shown on CCTV outside the property.

"Do you recognise him? We believe he was with another male at the time.

"Did you see a man or two men acting suspiciously in the Portchester or Paulsgrove area, possibly trying doors at different addresses?

“I’m also keen to hear from anyone who may have been recently been offered either a high value silver cutlery, a silver Longines watch or silver cufflinks in the letters ‘S’ and ‘B’. If you have any information that may help this investigation please contact police on 101, quoting 44142034823.”

Officers have arrested and bailed a 20-year-old man from Southampton.
