A TEENAGE girl has been quizzed by police following a series of drugs raids across Southampton.

Officers launched into action yesterday morning targeting seven properties in the Thornhill area of the city.

A 16-year-old girl was interviewed in relation to a quantity of amphetamine and is continuing to help officers with their enquiries.

Two men were also arrested, a 29-year-old man from Byron Road on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug and a 57-year-old man from Hinkler Road on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

The raid took place in Tatwin Crescent, Byron Road, Burgoyne Road, Hinkler Road, Linacre Road and two properties in Murray Close.

Inspector Martyn Gorse, from Bitterne police station, said: “Hampshire Constabulary is actively working with the residents in Bitterne to end the blight of drugs in our local community.

“Southampton will never be a comfortable place for drug dealers to operate in, they are not welcome here, and we will be working constantly to put them out of business and bring them to justice.

“These warrants are an important part of our work in the local community and I'd like to thank residents for their patience and assistance while we carried out this activity yesterday.”

The Operation Evolution warrants are linked to the Daily Echo-backed Operation Fortress and dedicated officers from the taskforce worked with local officers from Bitterne police station to carry out this activity.

Anyone with any information or concerns about drugs supply in the county should call Hampshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
