AVID runner Rob Kelly hopes to prove he is as fast as lightning when he takes part in a gruelling fundraising challenge.

The Lordshill Road Runners club member will take part in the Adidas Thunder Run, a punishing ten-mile course that he will run solo as many times as possible over 24 hours.

He hopes to complete 15 laps, equating to 150 miles, across today and tomorrow at Catton Park in the Midlands.

The money he will raise will go towards the Way Ahead community group in Shirley Warren Community Centre.

The group was set up as the fundraising arm of the Way Ahead Leisure Pursuits day service, which encourages people with disabilities in the Southampton area to enjoy a healthier way of life through sport and leisure.
