POLICE are hunting a man who sexually assaulted a woman at a popular music festival.

Officers have today released an e-fit image of a man believed to have assaulted the woman for up to ten minutes.

The woman, who was in her 40s, had been standing alone in the Cabaret Club of the Isle of Wight Festival waiting for friends when the man approached her from behind.

Detectives have now released the new image in the hope witnesses will come forward.

They have been searching for the man since the incident between 6.30pm and 7pm on June 15.

The suspect is described as being a white 6ft male of medium build and in his early 40s.

He had short, slightly spiky mousey brown hair with sideburns and light facial stubble, a slim oval face, medium-sized pointed nose and slim lips.

At the time of the incident he was wearing fawn shorts, socks and trainers, a green short-sleeved polo shirt with a white stripe around the collar and a white number 10 on the chest and a watch on his left wrist.

Detective Constable Vici Hayward of Isle of Wight CID said: “We are keen to talk to anyone who was in the Cabaret Club between 6.30pm and 7pm watching the burlesque show on Sunday, June 15.

“They may have seen this incident, which occurred at the entrance to the show floor, particularly the woman who spoke to the victim to check on her welfare.”

Anyone with information can contact Isle of Wight CID at Newport Police Station by calling 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Words fail me. So someone gets sexually assaulted in a club full of people and no one does anything. Says a lot about the crowd at these festivals. Also why wasn't an appeal launched sooner?
