POLICE are still hunting for a woman after she snatched thousands of pounds from inside a Hampshire bank while a customer's back was turned.

The city-wide hunt was launched on Wednesday afternoon when the thief struck as the victim spoke to staff at a Southampton branch of Barclays and made off with at least £5,000.

Officers are still looking for the woman and the bag of cash and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to help them the person responsible.

As previously reported, staff at the Shirley Road bank raised the alarm when the bundles of cash in a Cash Converters carrier bag were taken.

Victim Salaur Rahman, 42, claims as much as £10,000 could be in the bag because he had withdrawn £15,000 in total and had removed some of the money from the bag shortly before it was taken.

The woman they are hunting is described as slim, in her 20s, with blonde hair which was in a ponytail. She was wearing black three-quarter-length trousers, a black vest and blue trainers.

Anyone with information about the theft should contact Shirley police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

First the hunt was stepped up and now its been renewed, good to see the police taking it seriously. There can't be too many girls walking about in cropped trousers in this weather.

Still no photo or CCTV which every bank has.
Either she does not exist or they do not really want to catch her.

Or the Police and the bank are just incompetent.

Still sounds like a scam. Especially as the 'victim' hasn't been able to confirm how much money was in the bag. If he took some out as he claimed, he would know how much and therefore know the remainder he claims was in the bag. Was there anything in the bag at all?!

Too bad! he should have known that once any money that is passed over the counter the bank ceases to be responsible for it, and for this very reason it seems, nice try though!

Again, he's a mug or a chancer.

Where are the CCTV pictures of the incident?! This would surely help everyone if these were made public especially if the police want help from the public and/or witnesses.
