A YOUNG driver jailed for nine years after killing two teenagers with his car after taking drugs is appealing his sentence.
Samuel Etherington admitted causing the deaths of Jasmine Allsop, 14 and her 16-year-old friend Olivia Lewry by dangerous driving last November in Gosport.
But the 20-year-old, of Stoners Close, has been granted the right to appeal his prison sentence and his case will be heard in the Court of Appeal in London later this week.
When his was jailed at Winchester Crown Court earlier this year, Judge Guy Boney QC said it was one of the most serious cases of death by dangerous driving seen by the courts for a very long time.
Etherington was driving a modified green Honda Civic car that hit Jasmine and Olivia in Ann's Hill Road, Gosport, at about 4.15am on November 3 last year.
Jasmine, a pupil at Brune Park Community School, who lived just yards from where the crash happened, died at the scene while her friend, Olivia, who attended St Vincent College, died later in hospital.
