It would make sense for jewellers to ask customers to remove sunglasses and show ID before allowing them near expensive items.

"homophobic" an adjective signifying the possession of an irrational fear of things which are the same. Did you mean to say that, because it doesn't make much sense? Perhaps you meant to say it was better in the US where the shopkeeper can get out the 44 magnum and save other shopkeepers from the same goyim.

Careful, someone might be offended! After all, it is now the trendy thing to do! It seems the only way attention seekers can get their bit of fame. Combine that with the lily-livered justice system we now operate and bingo! a result very time. In fact, it offends me greatly that people are so easily offended....or something like that.

Got nothing to do with being PC. You would be saying that if someone posted a racist post. Why is homophobia any less of a hate crime? I suggest you're the one who needs to grow up.

Oh well, you look it up Miss Pathetic. Because you see I don't do jargon made up by extreme right or left, so if the word consists of "homo" as in "homonym" it means "the same" and "phobia" as in "claustrophobia" it means an irrational fear.
I don't suppose you'll understand this but the reason why the extreme left made this jargon was to conflate those who feel mildly nauseous at the thought of male homosexuality with the activities of bully boys who hang around public lavatories to beat people.

What are you on about? The "homo" part comes from Latin, meaning man.

No it doesn't. It's Greek and it means "the same" I understand your mistake because it's the 19th century one which coupled "homo" with "sexual" to make a politer word than the one which had gone before, beginning with "b" In any event, your translation would be "an irrational fear of man"-the nearest to that that I can think of is misanthropy but it has a slightly different meaning.

What crimes arise from irrational fears? Squashing spiders comes to mind but that would only be if they were prime specimens in a zoological garden and that would be criminal damage I believe.
