TOURS of Southampton landmarks are taking place this summer to mark the city’s 50th anniversary.
The daily schedule of walks sets off from the south side of the Bargate from 11am throughout August.
Each day is themed, with Mondays exploring Southampton during the Second World War, Tuesdays are Perils and Plots, Wednesdays are Southampton’s vaults, Thursdays look at Parkland Promenade and Fridays tour round Medieval Churches and the Friary.
Other highlights include touring Castle Vault, The Undercroft and Catchcold Tower and learning about the history of the city’s Glaswegian heritage steamship the SS Shieldhall.
Saturdays look at novelist Jane Austen and The Spa Period, while Sundays are reserved for the Walls and Vaults Walk.
Guides coordinator Don Robertson said: “Our team of guides offer a treasure trove of knowledge about Southampton.”
The 90-minute tours cost £4 with under 16s going for free.
