FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fourth blaze in a fortnight at a prison.

It happened around lunchtime on Monday at Winchester Prison, five days after a similar incident where an inmate set fire to his waste paper basket.

The previous week three people were taken to hospital after two fires broke out in the early hours of the morning of Wednesday, July 23 at the prison.

The first was at 1.38am in a cell and the second at 3.05am in a cell in a separate wing. The causes are unknown.
