HAMPSHIRE chef Rob Cottam is to oversee the country’s newest cookery school on board the brand new Southampton cruise ship Britannia.
Run in consultation with top television celebrity chef, James Martin, the cookery school will aim to teach passengers the skills needed to create international dishes during a cruise.
Resident chef and manager of The Cookery Club, Rob, who joins P&O Cruises from Leiths School of Food & Wine and Ashburton Cookery School, will ensure the classes reflect current trends and tastes.
Rob, from Winchester, has lived and worked abroad including Malaysia and Australia and is an expert in Far Eastern cuisine.
He said: “Many of the classes will reflect the ports of call so passengers can go to local markets, vineyards and see speciality producers in the morning before an afternoon learning how to use wonderful Mediterranean, European and Caribbean ingredients, herbs and spices to create exciting dishes they can recreate at home.”
The biggest cruise ship ever built for British passengers, Britannia, now under construction in Italy, is due to enter service in March next year.
