A MAN was left injured after a robber pulled a necklace from around his neck before shouting racial abuse as he ran off.

The 27-year-old victim was walking along Shirley High Street between the Brass Monkey pub and Selby Place when a man grabbed hold of his hat.  

When the victim confronted him, the offender gave back his hat and then grabbed the victims’ necklace and pulled it off his neck before running away in the direction of McDonalds shouting racial abuse.

The man police want to speak to is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins, of slim build with blond, messy hair and quite prominent cheek bones. He was unshaven and wearing a horizontal stripe T-shirt.

Police staff investigator Marta Drozd, said: “The victim sustained minor injuries to his neck as a result of the offender pulling the necklace off, which was of sentimental value. I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or anyone who has any other information that could assist our inquiry.”
