THE fruits of Southampton Allotment and Gardens Association members’ labour were on display at their annual show.
Despite difficult growing conditions, the show still saw more than 20 stalls, as more than 80 people turned up at Peartree Green Church Hall to take a look at a range of vegetables as well as a jam stall and a cake stall.
Fruit and vegetables on display included potatoes, runner beans, tomatoes, rhubarb, onions and lettuces.
Judges at the event were impressed with the standard of produce.
Show secretary Sonia Blandford, who tends to a plot in Witts Hill in Midanbury, said: “It has been a difficult growing season, it has been very dry, but we were really pleased with the amount of entries and the quality.
“We try to make this event like a village show, and everyone has something they can enter. We are pleased to have more than 80 people here, and some people had come along for the first time and that is very encouraging.”
