FOR around 20 years the sun has shone on an annual village fete near Winchester.
Whilst other events have endured wet weather, the Easton Fete has enjoyed a run of fine, or at least dry, weather.
But luck finally ran out on bank holiday Monday when the rain lashed down on proceedings on the village recreation ground.

Hundreds of people still had fun, but waterproof clothing and a sense of humour were de rigeur.
The dog show had fewer entries than usual but the children loved the traditional merry-go-round and magic show held in the village hall.
Robert Hall, chairman of the village hall committee and senior BBC news correspondent, was master of ceremonies.
He said: “This is the first time it has rained in something like 20 years.
“You can’t cancel something like this. We have been scrambling around all morning putting up gazebos.”
The event was opened by local city councillor Kim Gottlieb, who also brought along his Winchester Deserves Better displays about the Silver Hill scheme.
