 A JUBILEE street party will mark 50 years since Southampton received city status.

Afternoon tea and a variety of entertainment will be on offer. The Guildhall Square will host the celebratory event from 2pm until 4pm on September 14.

It is a "Jubilation", an ancient Jewish festival that happened every 70 years, when everyone forgave all the debts owed to them and freed all their slaves it they had any.
