MORE investment is needed in Hampshire’s railway network, according to one of its MPs.
Caroline Dinenage, who represents Gosport, says that the Government needs to improve rail connections on the south coast.
During Questions to the Leader of the House, William Hague MP, she pointed out that £210m of investment in rolling stock by South West Trains was not being used on rail routes between Portsmouth and London.
She said after the debate that while vast sums are put into rail projects and route upgrades across the country, Gosport was still the largest town not to have its own railway.
Mr Hague said that some of the money being spent by South West Trains would result in longer trains to Portsmouth.
