MARINE workers swapped their boat shoes and striped T-shirts for carnival costumes at a glittering party in the city centre.
The Orange Rooms were transformed into a Rio de Janeiro-style carnival which gave exhibitors of the PSP Southampton Boat Show the chance to get to know each other and let their hair down.
Guests arrived at the annual event, organised by the show’s sponsor, freight company PSP, dressed as Disney characters, gladiators, sombrero-wearing Mexicans and a larger-than-life chilli pepper.
There were balloon artists, a magician, carnival girls and a pop-up casino as well as music from acts including Freddie and the Freeloaders, who performed a mix of vintage soul, jazz and modern classics.
PSP’s marketing director Jo Dixie-Goodwin said: “It was a fantastic night. There has been a real sense of optimism at this year’s show and that was certainly reflected in the atmosphere at last night’s event.
“It’s an honour to be able to do something so fun for our customers and fellow exhibitors at the PSP Southampton Boat Show. A great night was had by all.”
