A MURDER investigation has launched after the “suspicious death” of a 96-year-old woman at a Hampshire care home.
Police have arrested a 36-year-old woman from Southampton today on suspicion of murder after the death of Ethel Baldwin at Abbey House Care Home in Abbey Hill, Netley Abbey.
She died on Saturday, September 13, and a post mortem was held on Tuesday, September 16.
Specialist officers have been liaising with the care home and family members to establish the circumstances of this death and to ensure the safeguarding of other residents at the care home.
The 48-bed care home is set in grounds across from the historic Netley Abbey.
It provides nursing accommodation where residents can go for both short and long-stay care.
Abbey House says it prides itself on providing care "to a standard of excellence".
It has a range of amenities including a large sensory garden for residents.
