A MAN was found bleeding close to a Hampshire supermarket car park after he was attacked in a suspected assault.

The man, aged in his 20’s, was discovered in Grange Road, Gosport, near to the entrance to a Tesco car park, just before 6.30am this morning.

Officers have sealed off the area as they begin their investigations into what happened to the man, who sustained serious injuries to his face, arms and body.

Police believe the man was assaulted and are looking into the possibility that he was attacked by a group of people during the early hours of this morning.

They are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the injured man or what happened to him to come forward.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are said to not be life-threatening.

Detective Inspector Ross Toms said: “We’re appealing for witnesses who may have noticed an injured man, a disturbance, or any suspicious behaviour in the Rowner area of Gosport overnight and early this morning.

“I would also ask local residents to check their gardens and bins for any discarded property that does not belong to them.

"This is a routine line of enquiry to explore the possibility that evidence may have been thrown away by suspects after the assault.”

Anyone with information should call CID at Fareham police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
